Background History

According to lam Pema Choeda (2022), it is said that in the past, there was a small lhakhang that was fenced and uninhabited by people but the founder and year of construction are not known. It is believed that the local deity was causing harm to the community and livestock thus, Paljay Rinpoche built the lhakhang in 1979. It was completely damaged by an earthquake in 2009 and reconstructed in the same year through government funding. Previously, the lhakhang was two storied with a touring statue of Guru Rinpoche covering both the floors which can’t be seen today. It was previously managed by the goenday and then by lam Rinchen until it was handed over to the zhung dratsang in 2003.
